Woman Injured in Cheboygan County Car Crash

A woman was injured in a car crash in Cheboygan County Tuesday, according to the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies say the crash occurred around 3:01 p.m. on southbound I-75 near Webb Road.

They say a 2021 Nissan station-wagon was traveling southbound in the inside lane and was passing a semi-truck when she lost control of her car on the road, resulting in the car hydroplaning and spinning 180 degrees, sliding under the trailer of the semi.

Deputies say the front of her car was struck by the rear axle of the semi’s trailer, and the car was pushed down the lane for 200 feet before dislodging and coming to a stop.

The driver of the semi was able to bring his truck to the shoulder of the road.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the woman’s car caught on fire. However, it was able to be extinguished by the driver of the semi truck.

Fire crews at the scene were able to extricate the woman from her car. She has been taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured in the crash.
