A Norton Shores man was arrested after breaking into a home and fleeing from deputies in Mecosta County, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday around 9:48 p.m., they were dispatched to a home in Morton Township for a burglary alarm.
When a deputy arrived at the scene, a car that was on the side of the road in front of the home sped away.
The deputy was able to run the license plate, which came back stolen out of Grand Rapids.
Deputies pursued the car eastbound on M-20 into Isabella County, where the car ran out of gas and stopped a few miles outside of Mt. Pleasant.
Deputies say Jared Theilbar, 41, of Norton Shores was taken into custody without further incident.
They state that Theilbar had broken into the Mecosta County home and stolen gas.
Theilbar was lodged at the Mecosta County Jail for fleeing and eluding, breaking and entering, motor vehicle theft and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.
Theilbar was arraigned in the 77th District Court and remains in custody on a $35,000 bond.
