Funeral to be Held for Former Diocese of Gaylord Bishop
On Friday morning, a funeral will be held for a former Bishop of the Diocese of Gaylord.
Robert Rose passed away on March 2, and was the second Bishop to serve in the Diocese.
Rose was first ordained as a priest in 1955, and also served as bishop in Grand Rapids. He was known as a very spiritual person and had a love of music.
Vicar General for the Diocese, Jim Hayden, is estimating that there will be about 20 Bishops attending his funeral, including the archbishop from Detroit.
“He was a good bishop. He was always fair and firm and good to his priest,” said Hayden. “He was just a good all around man that lived a fulfilling life and I think he was a powerful person, a thoughtful person, and definitely was a man of God.”
Bishop Rose’s funeral will begin at 11 a.m. and is expected to last about two hours at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Grand Rapids.
