Investigation Continues Into Isabella County School Bus Rollover Crash

The investigation continues into a single bus rollover accident on US-127, south of Shepherd.

A school bus carrying almost thirty people, including the Ithaca High School skiing team, went off the freeway and rolled over at about 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Several students and some adults on the bus were injured and taken to the hospital but all injuries were non-life threatening. As for what caused the bus to crash, that is the biggest remaining question.

“It’s still under investigation. We don’t know exactly what the cause of the crash was,” said Lt. Michelle Robinson, of the Michigan State Police, “We do know that the school bus went off the roadway on the median side on the left and came back on the roadway. It then went off the roadway to the right where it overturned and did roll over completely at least once.”

The most extensive injuries were a broken arm and some concussions. Eighteen people total were taken to the hospital, most already released.
