Soo You Want to Build a Snowman Fundraiser

Sault Ste. Marie has seen over 10 feet of snow this winter season — with about three feet on the ground right now. It’s a perfect time to build a snowman, or your favorite character, or animal with your family — all to raise money for relay for life of the eastern U.P. This is the second year of the “Soo You Want to Build a Snowman 2” fundraiser. The cost is $10 to enter — with top prize being $50 in chamber bucks. There aren’t too many rules except keep it clean and build it in an authorized area!  It’s open to residents and businesses.

A co-organizer Mark SanAngelo says, “This project started last year because with COVID, we were really looking for ways to raise money for Relay for Life.  A lot of the usual avenues stopped because of the pandemic so this is a way to use the natural resources here in the Soo and have some fun!  Families can do it.  Businesses can do it.  It’s a chance to raise money for Relay for Life.”

Ali Quinn the other co-organizer adds, “All the money goes to Relay for Life for the Eastern U.P. and it’s just something that everyone should get out and participate! It’s a great way for families to get out and enjoy the snow….businesses as well if they wanted to do a snowman or a creation in front of their business it would be a great way to get the team out there in the snow and have some fun!”
