Lewiston Couple Charged with Child Abuse
A Lewiston couple has been charged with child abuse after Michigan State Police say a four-year-old was brought to an ER extremely malnourished and with numerous bruises on their body.
On Jan. 2, troopers from the MSP Gaylord Post were dispatched to Otsego Memorial Hospital for an alleged child abuse and neglect case. According to police, an ultrasound performed on the child indicated internal bleeding and an internal organ laceration, caused by blunt force trauma.
An investigation led to the arrest of the child’s mother, 30-year-old Nicole Judith Needham from Lewiston and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Casey James Haskin, also from Lewiston.
Needham and Haskin were both arraigned in a Montmorency Court on Feb. 24. Haskin was arraigned on one count of first degree child abuse. His bond was set at $150,000 cash surety. His next scheduled court appearance is on March 11
Needham was arraigned on one count of fourth degree child abuse. Her bond was set at $25,000 cash surety. Her next scheduled court appearance is on March 18
