One individual in Leelanau County has some big shoes to fill.
Leelanau County Administrator Chet Janik announced his plan to retire at the end of this year.
On Monday, the county discussed bringing in a consultant to help the board with the search for Janik’s successor.
Janik served in the public arena for forty years.
He has served as Leelanau County Administrator since 2012.
Before then, he worked in higher education, as a school superintendent.
“This has been a great opportunity for me because i’m a local Leelanau County boy, so this is kind of a coming-home, a great way to end my career,” said Janik.
The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners are actively searching for Janik’s replacement.
