MSP Responding To Barricaded Homicide Suspect in Beulah

UPDATE (8:40 PM):

Michigan State Police say the suspect has been taken into custody as he attempted to flee his home on Cinder Road.
Troopers say the man will be lodged in Benzie County Jail.
Units remain on the scene as the investigation continues.




Michigan State Police have released more details regarding an investigation into a barricaded homicide suspect in Beulah.

Troopers say at approximately 1:49 p.m., Benzie County SD responded to a breaking and entering in progress on Cinder Road. They say they found a 72-year-old woman dead inside the home.

According to Michigan State Police, there was a small fire that was distinguished, and an MSP K-9 team was in the area, tracking the suspect.

As of 6:55 p.m., troopers had tracked a 55-year-old suspect to his home on Cinder Road. They say a perimeter was established and the MSP EST was called in.

Currently, troopers have made their presence known over the PA system, and have asked the man to surrender.


Michigan State Police are currently responding to a barricaded homicide suspect in Beulah.

Troopers say Cinder Road between South Weldon and Thompsonville Highway is currently closed, and residents are asked to avoid the area.
