With 2022 Winter Olympics Tomorrow, GTA Gets Ready by Holding Their Own Olympics

With the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics just one day away, students at Grand Traverse Academy are having their own winter Olympics.

On Thursday, students strapped on their skis and hit the slopes for a cross country ski race.

Each class was assigned a country to represent, with times of each class totaled to determine the winner.

GTA Physical Education Teacher Jodi Kline says the goal is to teach kids about a life long sport.

“Just to give kids exposure. VASA has been awesome in donating skis for us so it’s a great unit for kids who have never skied or will never get the opportunity to ski,” said Kline. “As physical educators we always want to teach our kids to be active lifelong and if you live in Michigan this is a great way to get kids motivated excited and having fun outside.”

The Grand Traverse Academy Winter Olympics will continue with bobsledding and speed skating.

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics commence tomorrow.
