Tip Up Town Second Weekend Focused on Snowmobile Races

Jan. 29-30 is the second weekend of the Tip Up Town festival in Houghton Lake, and this weekend, it’s geared toward races on the ice.

Fast Eddie’s Vintage Sleds is hosting the snowmobile race on Saturday.

“We kind of joined partners with the Chamber of Commerce for Tip Up Town weekend, and then two weekends from now we’ll be on our own doing Fast Eddie’s Vintage and Classic Winterfest,” said Fast Eddie’s Vintage Sleds owner Eddie Korbinski.

They’re expecting about 300 racers, and thousands of spectators to come out during the weekend.

“In January, we like to wait until the last minute, make sure that ice is perfect before we can get any trucks out on it,” said Korbinski.

And it’s not all about races..
Eddie’s sister Lynette keeps busy with upholstery repairs this winter at her shop Bayview Canvas and Upholstery.

“Ihave about 6 snowmobile seats coming in, I do a lot for my families,” said Lynette. “It’s nonstop, it’s keeping me pretty busy.”

This weekend brings more people and more excitement to the Houghton Lake area.

“Every year, we take on more volunteers and the whole community’s starting to jump in and help,” said Korbinski. “It’s amazing, it’s fun.”
