A 29-year-old Mesick man has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after Michigan State Police say he pulled out a rifle while police were at his home investigating a disturbance call.

On Saturday, Jan. 22, a trooper from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post responded to a disturbance call at a home in Springville Township. This marked the second call to the home that day. When the trooper arrived the second time, police say 29-year-old Dilan Skyler Harris was not cooperative. According to MSP, while the trooper was standing on the front porch, Harris closed the door and turned off the exterior light. Deputies from the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene to assist.

According to police, Harris could be seen inside the home retrieving a rifle. He leveled the rifle towards a window and the officers ordered him to put it down. Harris complied and was placed under arrest and lodged at the Wexford County Jail.

Police seized a .223 semi-automatic.

Harris was arraigned Monday in a Wexford County court for one count assault with a dangerous weapon and one count possession firearm under the influence. He was released on a personal recognizance bond. His next scheduled court appearance is set for Feb. 8.
