Outdoor Ice Rink in Cheboygan Opens for First Time in Years

For the first time in two years, Cheboygan’s outdoor ice rink under the pavilion is ready to go.

In previous years, the weather wouldn’t cooperate and temperatures did not drop low enough to keep the ice frozen.

The outdoor rink is maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department of Cheboygan, and is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

With its return, the ice rink is expected to bring more people downtown and increase customers for the businesses.

Skaters can be found enjoying the ice during lunch or after school.

“I’m very excited to have it back,” said Katie Duczkowski, Interim Downtown Development Authority Director. “I think especially with the new festoon lights here at festival square it’s really inviting. It’s just another reason to come downtown and enjoy everything our local community has to offer.”

The ice rink can be found under the pavilion across the street from city hall.
