GLUA Receives $100,000 Donation for Citizens Fund

The Gerrish Lyon Township Authority (GLUA) has been working to get a sewer system and waste water treatment plant installed around Higgins Lake.

An anonymous local couple donated $100,000 to the authority’s septic tank fund.

That fund will be available for those in Gerrish and Lyon Townships to afford the installation costs of the septic tank.

The fund will be separate from the money used for other expenses in the project.

The authority says they want to keep about $700,000 to $1 million in this fund to help other residents, and this donation helps with that.

“This couple, who’s been a long term resident of Higgins Lake, wanted to be the first to donate, and it’s just fantastic,” said David Hall, Gerrish Lyon Township Authority Member at Large. “They’re excited about it, and they wanted it to be significant and I think $100,000 is a significant donation.”

The group is still applying for grant money to fund the project. Their next in-person meeting is on Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. at the Gerrish Township Hall.
