White was a longtime animal welfare activist and American Humane board member.

Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City is still collecting donations through their or page.

“We have such an amazing community and we weren’t really sure what exactly was going to happen and how it was going to go over, but we were so overwhelmed with donations,” said Communications and Marketing Manager Naomi Washburn.

With over 600 donors, Cherryland Humane Society has collected $17,200 and counting.
