Brewvine: Wonderful, Winter Wine Events at Chateau Chantal

Chateau Chantal on Old Mission Peninsula isn’t just a summer destination or a stop on a fall color tour, the winery has a calendar full of events.

For this week’s Brewvine, Whitney Amann and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson take you there to find out about their wonderful, winter, wine events.

“We kick things off every year with our Ice Wine Festival that’ll be happening the last weekend in January,” said director of marketing Kyle Brownley. “We celebrate kind of the rare ability that we have to make ice wine.”

The time and conditions are right for Chateau Chantal to celebrate the creation of their popular dessert wine.

Ice wine isn’t the only star at the winery.

Several other delicious wines will get their chance to shine at Chateau Chantal’s themed wine dinners that run through May and the tickets for these memorable meals sell out fast.

While winter may be considered “the off season”, it’s a great time to visit if you want to learn more about wine, avoid the crowds, or take part in some of their winter wine events.

“We really love to showcase that this is kind of a four season’s area to live in. We love winter. We love the beauty of winter and we like doing individual events that kind of showcase, you know, our little slice of heaven here during the colder months,” said Brownley. “So bringing people out for dinners or for Ice Wine Festivals or the yoga retreats and kind of the off season is a nice way to showcase how beautiful it can be here.”
