Sault Ste. Marie Woman Dies Following Two-Car Crash

A Sault Ste. Marie woman has died following a two car crash in Sault Ste. Marie, according to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.

Around 9 a.m. Thursday morning, police responded to a two-vehicle crash on the I-75 Business Spur near West 25th Avenue.

Upon arrival, police found Robbi Jo-Ann Anderson, 29, of Sault Ste. Marie seriously injured, and immediately began lifesaving techniques.

Police state Sault Fire transported Anderson to a local hospital, but Anderson was later pronounced deceased. They say Anderson’s next of kin have been notified.

According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department, the cars involved in the crash were a Chevrolet Equinox and a Subaru Outback.

They state Anderson had been a passenger in the Equinox.

Police say both drivers were injured during the crash, and were taken to a local hospital by Sault Fire. They say both drivers have been discharged.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Department states contributing factors and the cause of the crash are still under investigation.

However, they say preliminary investigation suggests that the Chevrolet Equinox was traveling south within the southbound lanes of travel before losing control and crossing over into the northbound lanes.

They say a head on collision took place in the northbound lanes.

Police say no additional information is being released at this time, and once the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the Chippewa County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
