Traverse City Salvation Army Hosts Annual Christmas Community Meal

The Traverse City Salvation Army hosted their annual Christmas community meal Wednesday afternoon.

It was a chance for those in need, or those with no time to cook, to have a warm meal and a few smiles this holiday season.

Most of the contributions that make the meal possible come from local businesses.

Every year, they serve up hundreds of plates, spreading much needed cheer.

“This year, it’s special because we know families are still struggling in a different and unique way, and so this is one of those opportunities that we get to come alongside families or individuals who find themselves in a little bit of extra need,” said Lieutenant Matthew Winters of the Salvation Army.

In addition to a warm meal, the Salvation Army was helping people stay warm by giving away coats.
