Senate Passes Bill To Fund Government Until February

President Biden is expected to sign a stopgap bill on Monday morning to fund the government through Feb. 18.

The bill passed in the senate 69 to 28, averting a government shutdown.

The short-term spending bill was originally in jeopardy as several Republicans threatened to delay it over objections to Biden’s federal vaccine mandate.

In the House, only one Republican voted with Democrats in favor of the stopgap measure.

A government shutdown would have slammed the already hurting U.S. economy.

The S&P estimated it would have cost about $1.8 billion per week.
