Manistee Rings In Holiday Season With Victorian Sleighbell Parade

Manistee is getting ready to ring in the holiday season this weekend with their Victorian Sleighbell Parade.

It’s the 32nd year for the parade, and the Old Christmas Weekend.

Both have become a popular tradition in the Manistee area.

Events include live music, a scavenger hunt through local businesses, and an appearance by Santa himself in the Sleighbell Parade.

The highlight of the weekend is the arrival of a 30-foot Christmas tree that will be pulled through downtown, followed by fireworks.

“You won’t see any motor vehicles in this parade,” said Mick Szymanski, Parade Coordinator. “It’s Victorian-themed so a lot of people in costume, a lot of horses and buggies. Entertainment bands we have things all day long on River Street.”

The parade is Saturday and starts at 5:30 p.m.
