One Person Dead After Sheridan Township Fire, Deputies Searching For Missing Car

One person has died after a fire in Mason County’s Sheridan Township, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Monday around 9:10 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a structure fire in the 3700 block of North Morse Road in Sheridan Township. They say a passing motorist reported the fire to the Mason/Oceana 911 Center.

Deputies say a person was found dead inside the home, but it is unclear how they died.

The Sheriff’s Office states that they do know the identity of the victim. They say the victim resided in the home and had been working closely with the family, but their name will not be released at this time.

Currently, the Sheriff’s Office is requesting help from the public in finding a missing car from the scene of the fire.

Deputies say detectives are looking for a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. The car is black in color and has the Michigan registration of EKN 1646.

They say the car has an aftermarket fog light system on the front bumper, and has been reported as stolen.
