Donation Gives Downtown Charlevoix Customers More Money to Shop

Thanks to a generous donation from a former business owner in Charlevoix, customers will have some extra money to spend downtown.

They can purchase gift cards from the Charlevoix Downtown Development Authority that will give them more than if they used straight cash.

For example, if you spend $50 on a card, you’ll get an extra $20 to spend downtown.Charelvoix Shop For The Gull

Now that we’re in the winter season, a summer city like Charlevoix benefits from encouraging more shopping downtown.

The $1,000 donation was given by the family of Jeannine Wallace who owned the shop “Shop for the Gulls” for almost 40 years and had recently passed away.

Jeannine was also very involved in the downtown development authority and was known throughout the city.

“When the news got out about her donation to our business owners that used to know her they all said ‘this is the perfect way to remember her because she would have loved supporting everybody in this way’,” said Lindsey Dotson, DDA director.

On top of the gift cards, every $50 spent at select downtown businesses will give customers a chance to win $500 to do more shopping downtown.
