Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District Holds Strolling Lights Festival
The holidays are finally upon us and there is no better way to celebrate than by decorating a Christmas tree.
The Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District in Glen Arbor hopes to see all of their trees fully decorated by the end of the month.
The trees are part of the district’s first-ever Strolling Lights Festival.
Anyone in the community can pay to sponsor a Christmas tree for $150 and decorate it themselves.
Crystal River Outfitters Wine and Event Supervisor Kaitlyn Springsdorf says the idea came from wanting to bring more winter festivity to Glen Arbor.
“We were kind of trying to brainstorm a great way to be able to have family in the community come up and enjoy just being together,” Springsdorf said.
Proceeds from tree sponsorships will go to the Glen Lake Student Assistance Fund.
The program helps students’ families pay for things like their heating and electric bills or buy food.
General Manager of Operations Linette Rouzer says the partnership allows the community to come together and help give back around the holidays.
“There’s a lot of families out there that are in need and we just thought this was going to be a nice way for the community to help support that program, Rouzer said. “And we just thought this would be an easy way for us all to donate.”
You can sponsor a tree now, until they run out.
“We have over half of them already sponsored, we do have 26 trees in total that are available or were available,” Rouzer said.
“Santa’s coming!” Springsforf said. “We are super excited, the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce will be having the holiday marketplace down at Township Hall, and then we will be hosting Santa here out on the wine patio from 11 to one.”
