The Position: As the Human Resources Generalist, you will lead/or assist various functions related to maintaining a well-balanced work force and achieving organizational goals.  This position requires a high degree of integrity that promotes fairness, respect, honesty and trust.

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Constantly analyze current processes and procedures to ensure the method is the most effective and efficient way of delivering timely and accurate results.
  • Support and/or collaborate with other Team members on special projects, assignments, goal achievement, team goals and objectives, etc.
  • Lead the employee onboarding process and related employee setup within various software packages and as well as communicate with 3rd party’s to enroll employees in various benefit packages.
  • Assist with the recruitment of potential employees by working with Managers on position descriptions, postings, interviews, reference checks, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with employees of various departments to ensure open lines of communications exist to facilitate the timely and efficient transfer of policies, procedures, knowledge, etc. exist across the entire organization.
  • Guide employees to navigate benefits and answer HR policy and benefits questions.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain proper employee files in digital form.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assist with maintaining a sustainable company culture by helping leaders drive consistency, model behavior, and act as a conduit for conversations.



  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, focus in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a HR generalist or similar role
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources and employment regulations
  • Ability to independently resolve problems


The Location: Heritage Broadcasting is based in beautiful Northern Michigan.  The position will be located in Cadillac, Michigan.
