Brewvine: Dead Bear Brewing Company Keeping the Creativity and Cold Beer Flowing

They may not be the biggest brewery but in Grayling keeps the creativity and cold ones flowing.

“We’re a small brewery,” said owner and brewer Travis Krebs. “We do three and a half barrel boutique batches, we’re consistent, everything’s fresh, we have really good food, great kitchen, great staff.”

Dead Bear has about nine handles dedicated to their many different styles and flavors of porters, stouts, IPA’s, and amber ales.

While they do have fun playing with ingredients like peanut butter, marshmallows and maple syrup, the brewery still takes its beer very seriously.

“Any time I’m adding anything to beer, whether it be like cinnamon, peanut butter, vanilla, whatever, I want it to be beer first,” he said “So we’re going to always, especially on the first run of something like that, I like to really hold back and see where I want those flavors to shine through but at the same time, I don’t want somebody to be overwhelmed by them.”

In their seven years, Dead Bear has created over 200 recipes and plans to keep the kegs and creativity coming.
