The Benzie Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced a new director to head up the community resource.
Michelle Barefoot has been with the Chamber since June 2020 as an Operations and Marketing Manager.
She was announced as director in early October, and has already reinstated community and business events after they were postponed due to Covid.
Barefoot says she wants the Chamber to connect more with the community and the businesses a part of their chamber.
They recently held a “Making Benzie Better” lunchtime program on the childcare issue in Benzie county.
She says the Chamber is helping get the people that need to talk about issues like childcare and workforce housing to the table.
“Getting the people that do have the answers at the same table so we can create changes to make this a reality is where we need to be,” she said.
The Benzie Area Chamber of Commerce was also recognized by the Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals for their 2021 Award of Distinction.
