Democrats are now focusing on scaling back three key areas of President Biden’s infrastructure bill in hopes of winning over senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona.

Support from the two moderate Democrats is critical to passing the bill in the evenly divided Senate.

Democrats are now proposing at least four weeks of paid family leave instead of 12.

Secondly, vouchers of up to $1,000 would cover dental procedures instead of expanding Medicare to cover all dental needs.

Lastly, Democrats are proposing a tax on the nation’s 700 billionaires, although that tax will only be enough to pay for part of the bill.

There is one bright spot for the White House. The final package is expected to include at least $500 billion to fight climate change.

Biden wants to signal America’s commitment ahead of major climate summits in Europe later this week.
