Two Men Arrested After A String Of Events In Grand Traverse County

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office was called to a single vehicle crash on East Mill Rd. near Fouch Rd. in Blair Township on Monday morning.

Deputies determined the Ford Escape involved in the crash was reported stolen to the Michigan State Police in Cadillac.

A witness at the scene says the vehicle was driving erratically and crashed into a tree.

The witness says a man left the scene with liquor bottles.

The witness said she spoke to someone who was passing by, they indicated the male that was leaving the scene of the crash had just shot at the passerby’s house with a firearm.

A few hours later, the same man was seen on Sawyer Rd. in Blair Township hitting a pickup truck with a baseball bat.

While at the scene on Sawyer Rd., the deputy learned this same man who left the crash scene and damaged the truck with a baseball bat, assaulted a family member earlier in the morning at a house on Wilson Rd.

The deputy identified the suspect in all of these incidents as a 33-year-old Traverse City man and a warrant was issued for Domestic Violence 3rd Offense, Felony Firearms and Habitual Offender 3rd Offense.

On Thursday, detectives learned the man was at a house in Blair Township.

After a search, the Traverse City man was found with 33-year-old Kewadin man, who had an extraditable warrant out of Indiana for Battery against a Public Officer.

Deputies also found what they believe to be an ounce of methamphetamine.

The case is still under investigation.
