If there’s one thing that may be able to end a blood shortage, it just may be free beer.
That’s the idea behind the Pints for Pints program being put on by Versiti.
It’s pretty straightforward, you donate blood at any Versiti location in the state and receive a voucher for a free pint of beer at a participating brewery around the state.
One of those is Right Brain Brewing in Traverse City. Owner Russell Springsteen says he is always willing to help the community with his popular commodity.
“I know that the blood banks are really low right now and they’re begging for any sort of transfusions,” said Springsteen, “I have an aunt who just had 10 units of blood she just received and the family was telling us, ‘please anyone that can donate, please donate.’ People like free beer.”
The promotion runs through the end of the month. Other participating Northern Michigan breweries include Short’s and Storm Cloud.
