The State of Michigan hit a milestone in its vaccination efforts against COVID-19. More than 10,000,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered statewide.

That puts the state at 68.3% of Michiganders fully vaccinated. This is shy of their 70% goal originally set for July 4th.

The state’s top doctor hopes that, the more of these milestones the state hits, the more likely those still holding out will finally decide to get the shot.

“For people who are on the fence about getting vaccinations for the last few months, I think it’s very different to know that vaccines are being administered to people you don’t know versus people they do know,” said Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, “The likelihood that friends or family have been vaccinated and done well is fairly high right now. So maybe that will better convince people that these vaccines are safe and effective.”

Of those ten million doses administered, the state says 200,000 of them are third dose or booster shots.
