Group Files Mask Lawsuit Against Gaylord Community Schools, Health Dept. of NW Michigan

A group of parents upset over the mask policy in schools is taking their case to court.

The group “Let Them Breathe” has filed a lawsuit in Otsego County against Gaylord Community Schools, and the Health Department of Northwest Michigan.

The health department issued a mask mandate for students this semester, ordering schools to adopt a mask policy for all grades K-12.

The suit argues that a school isn’t authorized by public health code to enforce a mask mandate or to suspend students who aren’t wearing masks.

9&10 News reached out to the health department and to Gaylord Community Schools. So far, neither are commenting on the suit.
