American Red Cross In Need Of Blood and Platelet Donations
Blood and platelet donations are in high demand right now.
The American Red Cross reports that they’re at their lowest post-summer levels since 2015.
They say they have to collect 10,000 additional blood products each week for the next month to meet hospital and patient needs.
Type O-Positive and Type O-Negative are the most needed blood types by hospitals.
“It’s something that’s very simple and it’s one thing we cannot re-create,” said Cathy Anthofer-Fialon of the Northern Michigan Red Cross Chapter. “It is not a product that our hospitals can make, so we really need people who are willing to step up and take a little bit of time out of their day and donate blood.”
