Williams Chevrolet Hosting Seat Belt Check Event This Weekend

Williams Chevrolet in Traverse City is hosting their annual “Car Seat Check” event on Saturday.

In a study done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 50% of car seats are installed wrong.

The dealership is teaming up with Safe Kids North of Grand Traverse Metro Fire to bring the national event to the area. Certified child passenger safety technicians will also be onsite to work with families and caregivers.

First responders will also be giving tours of their vehicles.

Experts will be talking with parents and caregivers about what to do if the seat is subject to a safety recall or has been in crash.

“Kids are important,” said Andy Witchern, Employee at Williams Chevrolet. “They’re the most important thing to us… and to make sure these car seats are installed correctly in case there is an accident. We want to make sure that they’re right.”

The free event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at noon.
