Green Lake Township Names 2 1/2 Mile Stretch Of M-137
A big announcement Friday in Green Lake Township in Grand Traverse County.
A ceremony Friday celebrated the naming of the township’s 2 1/2 mile stretch of M-137 to J. Maddy Parkway.
Joseph E. Maddy founded Interlochen Arts Camp in 1928.
The vote to name the section of the road comes after a 90 year partnership between the township and Interlochen Center for the Arts as they enrich the cultural and economic vitality of the area.
“We’re just especially proud to partner with Green Lake Township and these leaders and they have a recognition of the importance of arts and education and what we need to build up Interlochen and making it one of the most special communities in this already amazing Northern Michigan region,” said Trey Devey, President of Interlochen Center for the Arts.
Interlochen Center for the Arts draws more than 130,000 patrons each year through concerts and presentations.
