DHD4 Shares MI Start Safe Maps Highlighting Increase In Covid Cases

District Health Department #4 is continuing to monitor newly diagnosed COVID cases and test positivity rates.

They are releasing data for Alpena, Cheboygan, Montmorency, and Presque Isle Counties to demonstrate the spread of the virus in the area.

“These are two of the indicators we follow to assess the trends in the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” said Dr. Josh Meyerson, Director of DHD4. “Below are graphs that demonstrate the rapid increase in cases that began in mid-August and reinforce the need to continue to take measures to reduce the spread through wearing face coverings, avoiding large groups whenever possible, staying home when ill, and frequent handwashing. And, the most important way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to get vaccinated.”

The graphs below are from the MI Safe Start Map and apply CDC methodology to the most up to date information. This can be used in accordance with CDC guidelines.

According to DHD4, the graphs show weekly cases per 100,000 population and the seven-day COVID-19 positive test rate for Alpena, Cheboygan, Montmorency and Presque Isle Counties.
