Roughly 8,000 Haitian migrants remain at the encampment in Del Rio, Texas.

That’s down from the estimated 16,000 who had been there previously.

President Biden is facing criticism from fellow Democrats over the reported mistreatment of the migrants.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said an internal investigation is underway after footage showed border patrol officers using what seems to be aggressive force.

Border patrol has yet to explain how it determines who will be released and who will be deported.

Those who have been released into the U.S. have been given notices to appear in immigration court within the next 60 days.
