Redistricting Commission Releases New User-Friendly Website

The state’s independent redistricting commission continues the tedious work to redraw Michigan’s political maps. Throughout the process, the commission has held open meetings but they are long and detailed. This makes them hard to follow along with or gather any meaningful information.

When asked for copies of rough draft maps and plans, the commission said the best option was to watch the meetings and copy maps from the streaming video.

Now, the commissions says they have a solution. A new website where the public can go and sort through and scroll on the district maps done so far and even leave comments. The new maps will give detail that hasn’t been offered before.

“They will be clearer so you will be getting first generation, as opposed to multiple generations through tv screens and that sort of thing,” said Kim Brace of the commission, “So it will give you the capability of seeing much more detail than what you could’ve seen before.”

The new website can be found
