On Monday night, the Traverse City Commission approved a pay raise for City Manager Marty Colburn.
Traverse City Mayor Jim Carruthers suggested a 3% pay raise for Colburn.
Carruthers says Colburn deserves the pay increase especially looking at how he lead the community during the pandemic.
“Taken into the account of the challenges in the past year of COVID-19, it really has made everybody’s life more difficult,” said Jim Carruthers, Traverse City Mayor. “We did feel it was fair to offer one of our lead positions a little increase in salary because of the challenges of their job.”
The 3% pay increase will bring Colburn’s salary up to $128,000.
