The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office says two people were injured in a crash in Sidney Township Thursday.

Deputies say they were sent to a report of a crash on South Sheridan Road near Ruby Road around 8:23 p.m.

They say their investigation revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer being driven by Billy Mack, 60, of Stanton hit the back of a horse drawn buggy occupied by a 25-year-old Sheridan man.

Deputies say the buggy was operating with lights on at the time of the crash.

The 25-year-old sustained a laceration to the head and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Deputies say Mack also suffered minor injuries, and was arrested for operating while under the influence.

They also say the horse was injured in the crash, but is expected to recover.
