Man Severely Injured After Being Hit By Car in Mackinac County

The St. Ignace Police Department says a man was severely injured after being hit by a car in Mackinac County.

Police say Sunday around 5:20 p.m., they responded to a report of a accident on the intersection of Ellsworth and Marquette.

Police say SIPD Officer Rogers arrived on scene and found the man. He then assessed the man and began CPR.

Police say the suspect fled the scene, but came back a short time later.

The Police Department says Mackinac County Deputies Larson and Davis, along with Sault Tribe Police Officer Sherlund, arrived on the scene. Additional officers secured the area and assisted with the injured man, the suspect and securing the scene.

Police say the man was transported by Cheboygan Life Support Systems EMS to a hospital in Petoskey. He was later transported to a hospital in Grand Rapids.

The suspect is currently lodged at the Mackinac County Jail.
