Walking To Raise Money & Awareness For Childhood Cancer Research In The Soo
“Bringing awareness here, we are hoping to get more than that.”
Last year, they walked 38 miles to raise $1,000 for childhood cancer research.
This year, team Crowns Against Cancer walked downtown Sault Ste. Marie to raise more money and awareness.
Last year, the Relay For Life team walked half way across Chippewa County for the cause, this year, they walked down Portage and Ashmun, with an empty wagon.
The wagon represents a child who died of cancer.
Volunteers say the people they have met have been very generous.
“We have had a lot of people donating so far. A lot of people stopping here and then, both ways we have been walking, a lot of people have stopped us and asked us what we are doing today, so it has been great,” said Samantha Pomeroy, team Crowns Against Cancer.
If you missed the girls over the weekend, you can still donate to the cause here.
