FDA Meeting to Decide On Pfizer Vaccine Booster Shots

An FDA advisory committee will meet Friday to discuss whether to recommend booster shots of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine.

President Biden says he hopes the agency will recommend the extra dose, especially for older adults.

A recent Israeli study found a third shot significantly reduced the risk of severe illness, especially in people 60 and older.

But in a medical journal article, a group of scientists said the available evidence does not support giving booster shots to the general public.

Nearly two million Americans have already received a third vaccine dose after an extra shot was approved for people with compromised immune systems.
