MTM On The Road: 42nd Michigan Firemen’s Memorial Festival Kicks Off in Roscommon

The 42nd Annual Firemen’s Memorial Festival is underway.

Fire agencies from around the state are coming for community members to watch them simulate real fire situations.

They are showing a gas maze, which simulates a propane or gas fire.

The festival says gas fires are common calls they receive, and these simulations help their younger recruits get the experience of handling that scenario.

Local firefighters are also signing up for their smoke house competition. Two-men teams compete to see who can finish their course in the least amount of time.

The smoke house competition is on Saturday at 2 p.m. and open for community members to come and watch.

The Michigan Firemen’s Memorial Festival is running in Roscommon until Sunday.
