Saga of a Missing Snake Head at Ludington Brewery

Starving Artist Brewery in Ludington is on the hunt for a missing snake head. The snake statute made it’s debut at the Burning Foot Beer Festival in Muskegon this year. Just after the festival ended, Starving Artist owner, Andy Thomas, found the snake head missing.

“Immediately we think, OK, maybe it’s one of the team  helping with tear down and bringing it back to the vehicle,” says Thomas. “When the team gets back- got back to the tents- we realized that was not the case. Nobody in our group had the snake and we had realized it was stolen. We immediately contact the security and the people who run Burning Foot and say, hey, be on the lookout. This was stolen.”

Initially, there was a lead on the missing snake.

“We then were able to contact the authorities through an anonymous tip that the snake could be at this location,” says Thomas. “That didn’t pan out, unfortunately. Currently the snake is still missing. We thought we had a lead, but everything just kind of dried up.”

Thomas even filed a police report.

“With no real proof, there was nothing we could do,” he says. ” That’s why we decided let’s make lemonade out of lemons and really do some good here.”

Andy got together with some friends and decided they could make merchandise with an image of the missing snake head. He partnered with Burning Foot and Haunted Acres, who helps Andy with his beer tent at the festival, to create a fundraiser for a local charity.

“We contacted our artist friend, Charles State, who was able to get us the artwork really quick and and turned it into a presale opportunity that all profits from this merchandise will go to the kid’s food basket of Muskegon.”

The saga of the snake head has gone viral on social media.

“It ended up being shared hundreds of times with people trying to find it with the like minds of us saying, hey, everybody was there to have fun,” says Thomas. “It was pretty humbling to see all the people who kind of jumped in to help find this thing. Now we’ve got merchandise and fundraising for a charity.”

You can find the merchandise to help find the missing snake head while also helping a West Michigan cause.
