Summer might be coming to a close but there’s still plenty of summer fun to be had.

Courtney Sheffer from the West Michigan Tourist Association has the details in this week’s What’s Happening in Northern Michigan.

Hemingway Homecoming

is celebrating their year-long Hemingway Homecoming over Labor Day Weekend, and you can join them in celebration of Ernest Hemingway and Hadley Richardson’s 100th wedding anniversary. Eat and drink like Hemingway with a special menu and cocktails from Pinehurst Inn, and you’ll also have chances to win unique items and experiences including a tour of Windemere Cottage.

Boyne City Car Show

Visit the over Labor Day Weekend and check out the , held annually on the holiday weekend. Preview night is Friday during the last “Stroll the Streets” of the season with the car show taking place on Saturday on the shores of Lake Charlevoix. It’s a fun weekend to visit a great town with great cars, supporting a great cause, with proceeds benefiting the youth of the Boyne City area.

Logging Festival

‘s Annual Labor Day Weekend is back! Kicking off on Friday, September 3rd, the 2021 event will have the popular Lumberjack Competition, chainsaw carvings, arts & crafts vendors, a parade, and more. Visit on Friday for live chainsaw carving, Saturday for the Lumberjack Competition, and Sunday for even more logging festival fun.
