Gas Leak Nearby Downtown Baldwin Taken Care Of

A gas leak this morning in Baldwin evacuated homeowners nearby downtown Baldwin.

First responders say the call came in around 11 a.m. Thursday.

A utility worker was working along M-37 and accidentally hit the gas line, which runs straight through the downtown area.

They say homes that were 300 square feet around the leak were evacuated.

The gas was able to be shut off around 1 p.m., and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office reopened M-37 around 1:30 p.m.

No deaths or injuries were reported.
