Laura Jackson competed on the national stage for the title of
Laura lives in Northville and after a cheerleading accident when she was 14, Laura became a ventilator-dependent and a quadriplegic.
As Ms. Wheelchair Michigan 20’, she vows to push for equal access for everyone. Laura holds a Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration from Madonna University saying, “I broke my neck so I had to use what I had… my mind.”
This year marks the 50th year of the national Ms. Wheelchair America competition. It features 30 women with disabilities from across the United States. It’s more than a beauty contest, judges are looking for the most accomplished and articulate spokeswoman for people with disabilities.
While Laura didn’t win Ms. Wheelchair America, she did take home the People’s Choice Award!
