Michigan Sheriff Departments Join Forces to Complete Human Trafficking Sting

Three people are behind bars after a human trafficking sting took place Tuesday night in Fremont.

Five different sheriff’s offices such as Isabella, Mecosta, Montcalm, Newaygo and Osceola Counties teamed up during the sting.

Law enforcement officials didn’t reveal many details surrounding the operation, or what led up to the arrests, but said they are part of an ongoing effort in the area to put a stop to human trafficking.

“We held people accountable. We have three predators that were in jail that could’ve been making other children victims,” said Sheriff Brian Miller of the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department. “We have five different police organizations working together. You wouldn’t of been able to tell the difference who was from each agency by looking in the room.”

The arrests include a man from Cedar Springs, a man from Muskegon and a man from Twin Lake. They now face charges such as accosting children for immoral purposes and communicating on the internet to commit a crime.
