Garbin Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison for Role in Plot to Kidnap Gov. Whitmer

A judge sentenced Ty Garbin to 75 months in prison and a $2,500 fine for his role in the plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Garbin, 25, gave a statement Wednesday in a federal court in Grand Rapids and apologized to Governor Whitmer and her family and says he wants to work to help other people who are radicalized to find the right path.

In a plea agreement, Garbin testified that six men had trained at his property near Luther.

Garbin is the only person of the 14 charged in connection with the plot to plead guilty so far.
