Baldwin Airport Celebrates 9th Annual Jet Plane Boondoggle
People from all over the Midwest traveled to the Baldwin Airport over the weekend to celebrate the 9th Annual Jet Pilot’s Boondoggle.
The event is hosted by the Lake County Modelers and Flyers Association. It gives jet plane enthusiasts a chance to bond over their love for aircrafts, which flying and showing off their remote-controlled jets.
“It’s a good stress relief, it’s a different kind of stress. It’s fun,” said jet plane enthusiast, Chuck Mikowski. “The comradery with the guys. You look forward to seeing all the guys you only see once or twice a year… just as much as flying the airplanes.”
The event also gives spectators the chance to see the pilot’s hard work. Some jet’s at the event are even made from miniature jet engines and real jet fuel.
“It’s definitely a passion and a hobby, said Timothy Jannereth, Vice President of Lake County Modelers and Flyers Association. “More of a passion. It just gets pilots from all over together that enjoy the same thing we do.”
