Inside The Kitchen at Two River Deli in Grayling

“Grayling is a great town, Grayling has got a great heart, good people,” said the owner of Two River Deli in Grayling, Tim Ash.

Grayling also has good sandwiches thanks to Two River Deli.

Well two rivers, Manistee and the Ausable, so Two River Deli.

Owner Tim Ash says the motto is simple.

“We call it flavor in every bite,” he said.

No doubt about that in the signature Ausable sandwich.

“With that one you’re going to get everything, the good meat, the good cheese, the sweetness from the maple bacon jam, and the tartness from the red onions,” Tim explained. “And then our two river sauce gives a little heat level to it.”

If stacking isn’t really your style, you can roll it, with a wrap.

“This is the shawarma, my dad was part Syrian,” he said.

It used to be a part of Tim’s family dinners growing up. Now he is making it for other people’s family dinners, or an afternoon on the water. He says they wrap the sandwiches and wraps separately from the sauces so they don’t get soggy.

“We know our river people for sure,” he laughed.

Two River Deli also knows how to give back. Their T-melt, or tuna melt, is more than just a sandwich. It’s their way of helping local nonprofits.

“The charity this month is Beyond The Roses Equine Rescue, they have saved like 300 horses since 2012,” Tim said. “We are big into pets, we like the pet idea.”

They’ll get 50 cents from every T-melt sold in August. Two River Deli picks a new sandwich and new charity every month. Two River Deli has also donated to the Ausable Valley Animal Shelter and Grayling Youth Booster Club.

A meal that looks good, tastes good, and does good for the community.
